In
1996, Cullinan began the mapping, planning, preliminary design, and feasibility studies to
examine both on- and off-road routes for this 26 mile bikeway, which will pass
through seven towns along the Blackstone Valley and Canal. Cullinan is currently
performing final design, submittals and revisions, environmental permitting, and
construction engineering for a 3.5 mile segment of the bikeway in the towns of
Uxbridge and Millville. Cullinans activities include compilation & evaluation of
existing data; survey coordination & quality control; preparation of base plans,
profiles & cross sections; site investigations & field reviews; preliminary &
final horizontal & vertical alignments; typical sections & details; preparation of
right-of-way plans; and Hydrological Studies / Analysis. Cullinan will also develop a
Preliminary Functional Design Report & Cost Estimate; prepare drainage /
utilities studies & final design; design erosion controls; design traffic management
plan; prepare bid item quantity estimates; and prepare engineers estimate &
detail sheets. Cullinans environmental studies and permitting will include a
Categorical Exclusion Determination Checklist, an Environmental Notification Form, a
Notice of Intent, a Water Quality Certificate from the Mass DEP, filing with the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, wetland replication, and floodplain compensation. This project also
requires extensive community involvement and public participation, including coordination
with the Massachusetts Highway Department, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental
Management, the Town of Millville, the Town of Uxbridge, and several community groups
& property owners abutting the project. |
